The Terrible Wound of Rosie the Deer

Our wild deer friend Rosie visits often to eat leaves and fruits from many plants in the yard, to drink from the bird bath, and to receive an occasional massage. Recently she followed her curiosity into a garage, and then when startled she jumped through a window, cutting an ugly 10 inch gash on the side of her neck. She came soon after into our yard, and we were shocked at the severity of the wound. We were not sure if she would survive. We cleaned the wound, and over the next days gave her some special herbal remedies from our friend Sharon, who prepares herbal cures for animals (http://anaflora.com). Rosie healed remarkably fast, and seems extraordinarily grateful.

Nice…killing a deer and then hanging the murdered remains on the wall. Classy redneck decor! Perhaps you should get a psychiatric evaluation…wouldn’t want you near any animals or children.

  7. Deer don’t have a …
Deer don’t have a lot of trouble finding food in the winter, and there is plenty of browse for them to eat.

They do enjoy a little clover hay once in a while, and I have plenty to spare!

I don’t worry that much about hunters here. I’ve got plenty of signs, and an SKS carbine and a reputation for using it if the signs get ignored!

Last year I popped the front sight off of an idiots rifle that was aiming at one of the young bucks at fifty feet through the brush! He didn’t come back!

  8. You did an …
You did an excellent job on Rosie! Hydrogen peroxide is the PERFECT thing to wash, and disinfect the wound, as that the foaming action gets the dirt out.

The old “Purple Horse Medicine” works well with deer too.

For all the people that think this deer will become tame, and in danger of being shot, deer aren’t stupid! they understand the difference between humans, and learn who they can trust, and who they can’t!

After Rosie mates, she’ll bring her fawn to visit. Let them make the first move!

don’t you worry the deers will become used to humans and not fear them, say if they saw a hunter?

I agree with these lovely people.

These deer trust these people, they know what they are doing and truly LOVE animals.

I talk to my dogs. the tone of your voice “communicates” to the animals letting him/her know your current emotional state, the same for your posture.

Its probably the same for deers but befriending deers is incredibly hard and i respect these people for being able to pet wild/semi-wild deer.

Reply to SkateFOREVER202 who never heard a human talk to an animal: You think a killer is okay and a person who wants to save animals needs help. Okay. By the way, Rosie is doing fine. We don’t feed her, and she seems to be finding plenty of food on her own. If only humans were as smart as wild animals.

  18. Man you say that …
Man you say that polska2934 needs phycological help, i think you do. You speak to it like it’s a human being and you are actually doing worse for it by feeding and taking care of it. It will end up depending on you and die during the winter due to the fact that it will not be able to find and food, because it is used to you feeding it.

reply to polska2934 who wants to kill Rosie:
So your response to us helping an injured deer is that you want our address so you can come and shoot our friend, cut off it’s head, and mount it in your living room. You might want to seek some professional psychological help. And while you are at it, warn your family members about your violent disposition.
