The Witch Of The West-mer-lands – Archie Fisher (cover)

Cover of Archie Fisher’s – The Witch Of The West-mer-lands. This epic song was also sung by the great Stan Rogers. A “Beck” is a brook or stream. I think “brindled” means dappled, or not of just one plain colour. Golden Rod is a yellow flowering plant, otherwise known aherbal remediesh is used in herbal remedies. I hope the rest is clear. Once again I’ve slowed this song down slightly, the knight is supposed to be injured so no point in having him rushing about. There are some interesting parallels between this song and The Twa Corbies, the difference being that the ravens help him and his companions are more faithful.

The Waybacks sing the version of dearly departed Stan Rogers of Whom I am more familiar. I’m Pleased to find Others Who Have Heard The Waybacks sing The Witch of the Westmoreland: D
