Infused Herbs

See my herbs video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBGm5ATEsfw
This is what I did with some of them a few weeks ago:
Apple Cider Vinegar infused with horsetail, nettle, plantain leaf, hibiscus, and roses. This will be used as a rinse or wash to help keep my itchies at bay.
Coconut & Macadamia Nut Oil infused with horsetail, calendula (marigold), and vanilla bean pod. I’ve seen this floating around cyberworld as a variation of Moe’s Growth Oil. I use it for the lovely scent and to oil my scalp.
Distilled water infused with lavender, lemongrass, and pink rosebuds. This will be used as a spritz to refresh my hair, skin, and linen.

I wouldn’t put the plastic lid on my jars while heating them. I used mason/canning jars because they are specifically made to withstand the conditions of boiling water. Good luck!

No problem. Though I wouldn’t say this is a “proper” tutorial. LOL! I think I left them in closer to 8 hours. Everything turned out wonderfully.
Please be sure to strain your herbs thoroughly before application. I haven’t used anything but the oil since I’ve loced my hair. So far, so good.

I’ve been looking for a proper tutorial on how to infuse herbs in oil for hair! Thanks for having this!
Did these oils and the diffused water one end up turning out ok? Did you end up leaving the oils in the slow cooker for 6 hours or 8 hours?
How long, as in how …
How long, as in how long has this product been sitting in my cupboards? I used most of that stuff within a month and did a new batch a few times more. I haven’t used any since I’ve started my locs. Maybe I need to update.

I’m a religious ACV rinser. Keeps my itchies at bay and it costs pennies.
I washed my hair on Saturday and kept the ACV in for the first time… I still smell it. Not sure I’ll be doing that again.

They’re pretty simple and effective. I’m still learning myself. Will revisit this topic again soon.

How did the acv rinse cocktail measure up? Was it all that you hoped for?
I think I will try the ACV brew in the summer and leave it in my hair as a condtioner.

Yep. I’m already thinking about ways to package them. My biggest concern, however, is how to keep them from going bad. I’ll have to look into natural preservatives, I guess.
