my sister has cancer need herbs for cancer pain?
my sister has cancer and she asked me to get her some mary jane for her pain. does it work and how do i brew it i dont think she can smoke it she’s not able. help
She needs to talk to her doctor before using marijuana. If its appropriate, her doctor will support it. However, there could be complications. Real marijuana falls under the neutropenic diet of restricted foods, so if her blood counts are low, that needs to be considered. Also, marijuana could interact with some of the narcotics she is already on.
As far as cooking with it, google for recipes. There are tons. Cooking it allows the patient to use it, even when under neutropenic restrictions, as well.
But, her doc MUST be consulted before she uses it. MUST.
Also, remember legal issues. If it is illegal in your area, she may be better off asking for a marinol script. Also, while it is unlikely to get marijuana laced with anything, you do have to consider where you are getting it from. What is the quality? What chemicals was it grown with?
However, for pain, the doc is more likely going to want to try meds first, like oxy. Marijuana is great for nausea, and can work for pain, but doesnt always. Oxy is more likely to work, but can leave her far more medicated.
Marijuana is not effective for pain relief; it is reported to help with nausea associated with chemotherapy. Talk to her doctor. There are much better medications for pain relief than marijuana.

Cancer patient
Your sister’s oncologist will provide her with appropriate pain medication. There are a variety of medications available to treat all levels of pain.
Do not take unprescribed medication while undergoing cancer treatment. Chemotherapy may be rendered less effective or even ineffective by interaction with other drugs.
Marijuana is not the solution to your sister’s issues and may reduce her likelihood of survival.

I actually have heard of cases in which MJ helped with mild chronic pain. It is probably not the best choice for your sister as cancer pain can be serious. Serious pain meds, maybe with something for anxiety, should come from the doctor(s) caring for her.
hope this helps.
