I can not say enough good things about this book. I speak once more per day than I can count. It contains vital information that all animal lovers should know the quality of the food we feed them to treatments for diseases they receive. Unfortunately I got this book after I lost my beautiful Ragdoll cat to fatty liver disease. If I had obtained while he was alive, I think it might have been hoping to save him. I have three other cats well, and this book is my “Bible” when it comes to their care. My other Ragdoll was on the “prescription” diet that was supposed to be good for her. After 4 months of diarrhea (which the vet gave the pills that did no good), I found this book. I changed his diet, gave her milk thistle, some probiotics (one week), and she did a lap around 100 per cent. This book also contains many phone numbers where you can order herbs if you are not lucky enough to live in an area where stores of pets (or people’s stores of health) are available. I highly recommed this book. It is instructive, thorough and really opened my eyes to health YOUR PETS.

As one of the veterinarians who have contributed to this book, I’m interested to see some of the comments, especially on the garlic.
Garlic is in the the onion family and contains a small amount of toxic ingredient in onions (thiosulfate). Although I have seen the damage of red blood cells as little as one meal of onion powder baby food container, I have not seen such problems with garlic. In fact, garlic is a common ingredient in many foods and pet supplements, usually in small quantities as a flavoring agent. For example, I recommended Missing Link for my feline patients for many years, it contains garlic, but I have not seen any damage from it. Cats are cats, they are much less likely than dogs to eat a food that contains too much garlic.
The article Instincts TC said that “* * Following use garlic or onions can * possibly * cause hemolytic anemia. “This suggests, as has been my experience, it must be fed long term a significant amount of garlic to cause anemia. As with most things, the old saying “moderation in all things is of course in this case. (The reviewer also states that dogs can handle garlic and onions, this statement is dangerously false. Dogs are also sensitive to the toxicity of these plants, onion toxicity is fairly common in dogs.)
In holistic medicine, the basic principle is to tailor treatment to each individual animal. He always demands to watch your pet closely and be alert to any change in his condition. The Holistic Veterinary depends on the person who sees the animal every day, monitoring each treatment for all positive or negative. This applies to any other modality, including herbs and homeopathy, both of which can be very harmful if not used correctly.
book Anitra Frazier is great, but keep in mind he is 15 years. She recommends 20% of the grain diet, and now we know that cats do not handle grains well, and a high grain content ( as is common in dry foods) contributes to obesity, diabetes, bladder problems and other diseases. She also highly recommends garlic as a supplement. Thus, while his book contains good advice, you should not just follow blindly without swinging against other information sources, and continuously evaluate the response of your pet with every change.
Similarly, This book contains much valuable information. What new information becomes available, some bits May become obsolete. However, to dismiss the entire book due to (controversial) position is truly throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Veterinary Guide to Natural Remedies for Cats is a welcome addition to those who wish to pursue natural remedies for their cats. It gives the reader a variety of choices in each section, so we are able to select something, and if not done all that we hope we can make another choice. Several methods are described, including homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage and herbal medicine. It discusses a healthy diet as well. Mr. Zucker has interviewed a number of holistic veterinarians across the country and compiled their suggestions into this highly anticipated volume. I highly recommend it.

Find this book was a godsend. After purchasing several care “other natural cat” books, this book has exceeded all expectations and made the others a waste of money. This is the only book you’ll ever need to keep your cat healthy, or in my case… to save his life. After my cat was diagnosed with a fatal disease called fatty liver syndrome, I followed the suggestions of several veterinarians in this book and use ” medicine “conventional with my local vet, and the rate of blood enzymes were normal after only 3 weeks! Normally, the recovery takes twice as long. This book offers an alternative care and recovery is infomative and practice. I highly recommend it.

As a health writer, I know that the pharmaceutical compounds can be very dangerous. But for years, I overlooked the fact that drugs are not good for animals either. Your cat can probably benefit from alternative treatments safer. Martin Zucker has created a wonderful book, with top veterinarians. Do not keep the alternative treatments and holistic yourself – share them with your pet!
