Natural Remedy for Gout Provides Luscious Relief from Herbs and Cherries

Today, almost all types of disorders have drug based treatment and a corresponding natural remedy. In fact, natural remedies are giving some pharmaceutical companies a run for their money, since they are now more popular.

The gout disorder is one of those disorders where sufferers would much prefer the natural remedy for gout in order to avoid the side effects of drug medications. Hence, knowing what gout is, its symptoms, and how to avoid it, we should also learn about the natural remedy for gout:

Cherry Juice Gout Cure

There is quite an interesting story about cherries as natural remedy for gout and how this was discovered. In 1950, a certain Texas doctor was so afflicted with gout, it kept him confined in a wheelchair.

Finding himself hungry, he picked up a bowl of cherries since it was the only one that appealed to him. He was surprised to find all his gout pain and inflammation gone the following day and was certain that the bowl of cherries was the only thing different he ate the previous day.

From that day on, this doctor consumed 6 cherries a day until he became totally gout-free. His gout returned only after he stopped eating cherries. This then confirmed that the cherries did cure his gout. The Texas doctor collaborated with the family physician and they tested cherries as natural remedy for gout for 12 other gout sufferers.

Sure enough, his findings were proven true; the twelve patients became free of gout for as long as they ate cherries. These findings were scientifically verified; in fact the doctor’s works were included in the Texas Reports on Biology and Medicine Vol. 8, No. 3, 1950.

About ½ pound of fresh or canned unsweetened cherries is the recommended quantity for consumption to make the remedy effective for gout sufferers. If you’re going to take cherries in its juice form, drink those that are concentrated and unsweetened.

For this matter, studies have shown that any dark red cherries or even blueberries is effective in reducing the joint swelling among gout sufferers.  Drinking cherry juice, blueberry and Hawthorne juices provide a welcome alternative for some of your water intake requirements.

Other Natural Remedy for Gout:

• Chickweed Tea – Drink about 1 cup of chickweed tea, apportioned into four parts and taken about four hours apart. To make the chickweed tea, boil about a teaspoon of chickweed to one cup boiling water, then let it stand for several hours and strain the tea before drinking.

• Hops Ointment – Mix 1 tablespoon of hops to 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter; combine the mixture very well then use it by applying on to the gout-affected areas.

• Lilac and Vodka – This is a homemade medication with a little kick but should be taken only as drops. Combine two tablespoons of lilac blooms to seven hundred ml of vodka. Take fifty drops of this concoction three times a day and before having your meals.

Even the simple ascorbic acid is potent enough as an effective natural remedy for gout. Vitamin C can also be very effective in reducing uric acid levels.

Choosing Natural Herbal Remedies Over Drug Treatments

Choosing natural herbal remedies is something that you can consider especially when you find that conventional medicine is not helping you with your symptoms. A recent study showed that more and more people are turning to alternative remedies to help them with their illnesses. This figure is set to increase, as the benefits of using non drug treatments become more publicly known.

You can derive the benefits from natural herbal remedies in a few ways. You may choose to consume the herbs raw or you can take capsules containing herbs that are ground. Making tea out of herbs is also very popular. Herbal teas such as chamomile, dandelion, and many others are now widely sold. Another method is to remove the essential oils found in the herb and use them as a type of ointment or in aromatherapy.

Still there are no guarantees when using natural herbal remedies, although there are many who have reported good success with this form of treatment. Generally, herbs are not subject to the various tests that clinical drugs go through. Why? Because major pharmaceutical companies make more money promoting synthetic drugs and would therefore channel more of their resources there.

Contrary to popular belief, just because herbs are natural does not make them completely safe. Many of them have powerful medicinal effects and you really need to find out more before using them freely.

Still, what is good to know about natural herbal remedies is that they are much more well-tolerated by your body than clinical drugs, hence causing fewer side effects. If you also find yourself prone to experiencing side effects when you take conventional drugs, this form of alterntive treatment may just be the solution that you need.

Natural herbal remedies also tend to be much cheaper than drug remedies as they are grown and not cultivated inside a laboratory. As with any type of medication, do check with your doctor before you begin on any herbal remedy. You need to ensure that it will not counteract any other medications that you may be taking.

It is your responsibility to take care of your own health. As such, it is in your interest to be aware about all of the options that you have when it comes to treating various ailments and illnesses. Drugs are not the only option. So do find out more about natural herbal remedies and learn how they can be used for treatment.

Why Natural Remedies are Healthier and Cheaper

You are probably well aware of the high cost of health care insurance these days. Even if your employer pays for all or most of your health care insurance, you have undoubtedly seen those deductions going up, the co-pays getting higher, while the overall quality of the health care has not improved significantly. A large portion of this is because of the number of drugs and chemicals that are prescribed for even the most minor of ailments, and the costs of those prescription drugs is stratospheric and getting higher all the time.

So what can you do about it? One of the things you should seriously consider in order to keep costs under control is Natural Remedies. These are remedies that have been around for hundreds or even thousands of years. Remember, people way back then had many of these same ailments that you are dealing with, and they needed some way to cope with them and alleviate the pain. The very interesting thing about this is that most of these natural health remedies can be found as OTC (Over The Counter) medications that do not require a doctor’s prescription, and many have been found to be equally as effective (or even more effective) than their prescription high-priced counterparts.

You may need to visit a health food store to find some things, but you can be assured that the cost is going to be a very pleasant surprise, compared to what you pay for their prescription equivalents, and they do not contain nearly as many (or any at all) nasty side effects. For example, if you have a migraine, you may have read the warnings on the prescription medication, something about “may cause vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea, and/or cravings for artichokes”. So let’s look at this – by solving one problem, I am introducing five others? No thank you, I would rather stick with the migraine.

Natural remedies are there to resolve a myriad of different problems. And instead of nasty side effects, natural remedies can produce some POSITIVE side effects. For example, some natural remedies for headaches will also produce better blood flow and make the delivery of oxygen to the cells of the body more efficient. If you suffer from insomnia, you are probably taking some kind of medication just so that you can get some rest at night so that you are not totally toasted at work and can be functional. But you should know that the natural remedy Valerian is non-toxic as well as providing a much improved quality of sleep at night.

One of the bigger problems of today’s adolescent is acne. While there are a ton of OTC and prescription cures, almost all of these are topical meaning that they affect only the surface of the skin. There are several natural remedies that work on the topical as well as the part of the problem, and many have found that these are incredibly effective as an acne cure.

Some natural remedies contain herbal ingredients which act to stimulate the brain, and have been found to be effective in fighting Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). For more information on ADD and ADHD, please visit Working With Attention Deficit Disorder.

Do not dismiss natural remedies and herbal remedies simply because they have existed for a long time or because they do not use prescription drugs. In many cases, the natural remedy is just as effective as the prescription remedy, and even more so. And in almost all cases, the natural remedy is going to be much nicer to your wallet.

Home Remedies for Acne – Popping Pimples, the Natural Way!

You all remember your teenage years, high school, parties, friends, and… Acne! Those painful pustules on your face that seem to ruin a perfectly good day and cause so much grief at school, or anywhere you go for that matter. We all wonder how to fix the problem… from face scrubs, to acne creams, to just leaving the pimples there and covering one’s head with a paper bag. Fortunately, there are several home remedies for acne that have been said to fight the pimples very well. Some of these home remedies for acne are Tea Tree Oil, zinc, lemon juice, orange peel, garlic, and many others.

Tea Tree Oil is a natural oil containing Terpinen-4-ol which has been diluted slightly and is believed to kill bacteria. Because of it’s antibiotic qualities, Tea Tree Oil can be used as a home remedy for acne as it is believed to kill Propionibacterium acnes , which is the bacteria which dwells in the skin and causes acne. Tea Tree Oil can be applied topically to the site of the acne pustule as a home remedy for acne.

Zinc has been said to be one of the popular home remedies for acne for some time. Zinc however has several drawbacks and side effects. Zinc was proven only slightly more effective than a placebo in clinical tests, and can cause digestive upset (stomach aches). It can also leave a metallic aftertaste in the mouths of those who use it. In high enough doses, Zinc can cause copper deficiency, it can cause the immune system to break down and become less effective, can cause anemia, and in some cases, heart problems.

Zinc may also lower HDL (good cholesterol) levels significantly. Taking Zinc can inhibit the body’s ability to absorb iron and magnesium from food and/or food supplements. A few other drawbacks of Zinc are it’s tendency to interfere with the absorption of antibiotics, tetracycline, and fluoroquinolone. Some diuretics can interfere with the excretion of zinc causing the metal to build to toxic levels in the body. In short, zinc is possibly the least effective and most harmful home remedy for acne.

Orange peel can be pounded with water to a pulpy consistency and applied directly

to the acne affected area. The reason this home remedy for acne works is simply that the citric acid in the orange peel, along with some other components, kills the bacteria which causes acne as well as cleansing the affected area. This remedy smells particularly good as well and is very effective.

Rubbing lemon juice on the affected area is also effective. This home remedy for acne works on the same principle as the orange peel remedy, but in addition, cools the site of inflammation causing a reduction in the size of the pimple.

Garlic can be used as a face pack, or taken orally. Eating raw garlic may clear up your complexion but it probably won’t get you any more dates than your acne did. Garlic is a detoxifier, as well as an antiseptic. Taken orally it cleanses the body of toxins and excess hormones which can cause teenage and adult acne. When applied topically Garlic acts as an antiseptic and antibiotic, killing Propionibacterium acnes , the chief cause of most bacterial acne. Despite making your face and breath smell horrid, Garlic is one of the most effective home remedies for acne.

Aloe Vera gel, applied to the site of acne serves to cool the site of infection as well as reduce inflammation. When this home remedy for acne is combined with others, such as the lemon juice treatment, orange peel compress, or garlic pack, it becomes possibly the best home remedy for acne you can find because in addition to relieving the pain of acne, it can also help prevent scarring.

There are many home remedies for acne available to the aware reader, some of them have side effects or drawbacks, some are merely old wives’ tales, but some work surprisingly well.
